Spring Cleaning & Home Organizing Time

I think there is something to Spring cleaning. Funny how every year around this time I tend to find home projects that have to do with organizing something. This year my main goal was bathroom organization because I was running out of room for all my makeup. Shocking right? One of my drawers was not enough and in order to free up space in a 2nd drawer I had to get creative with organizing my bathroom cabinets and storing toiletries in bins.

MY ORGANIZATION SUPPLIES

MASTER BATH - MAKEUP ORGANIZATION - DRAWERS AND CABINETS

My plan started with Amazon and I ordered 3 drawer bins like ones I already had. In addition I found makeup specific trays for my drawer. Compact holder, lipstick holder and stackable clear trays.

When the bug bit me, I looked for additional solutions for my drawers and found these cloth bins. $18 for 6 of them I think was a good deal. Shoe boxes can be used in place of these to eliminate cost.

LAUNDRY ROOM CABINET - ORGANIZATION

Michael’s crafts was my other outlet for clear bins as I decided to spread my project to include laundry room cabinets, bedroom jewelry drawers and finally the kitchen. Since these Michal’s bins (V-Baskets) fit perfect into kitchen pantry, I ordered more and plan to take kitchen organization as a stand alone project coming up. $5 each, I purchased these during a 60% off container sale.

In addition I have two dresser drawers where I keep jewelry and they are pretty shallow so craft containers for beads and other craft items was a perfect solution. Here are all my Michale’s containers purchased during 60% off container sale. I used these for my sewing drawer, jewelry, laundry room and bathroom.

STEP BY STEP PROCESSS

MASTER BATH - MAKEUP ORGANIZATION - DRAWERS AND CABINETS

  • Plan your approach so you know what supplies to buy. What do you have, and what do you need.

  • Measure your space and look at details of your items.

  • Buy bins and all organization items you will need. Don’t worry about having extra, not enough will cause you to pause and restart your project. Too many will offer options until you find the most optimal solution for your space.

  • Get some non slip drawer liners or if you have non slip carpet liner like I did, use that.

  • Clean your space so your organized items go into clean cabinets, drawers and containers.

  • Take your time, re-configure until it fits to be functional for you.

A lot of work, but worth the effort and cost in bins. Look for sales, use coupons and tackle one area/room at a time. I am happy with my results.
